Film & Digital Content Studio Melbourne | Guerilla Creative

WHO THE HELL ARE THESE GUERILLA CREATIVE JOKERS?

We are storytellers at heart and we’re damn good at spinning a visual yarn. Creating engaging film and digital content isn’t just a job for us… we live for it.

We’ve perfected the recipe for how to layer our talent, passion and creativity into a world class video production lasagna… And hot damn, it’s tasty! Our imaginative team of cinematography connoisseurs are trusted by some of Australia’s largest brands, TV networks, PR and Ad agencies, both locally in Melbourne, but also interstate and even internationally.

Our work has taken us deep into the Amazon river, far into the sub-zero Nunavut territory of Northern Canada as well as countless other exotic and impressive sounding locations. But who exactly are the rag tag bunch of rapscallions who make Guerilla Creative what it is?

Michael Middleton

From humble beginnings shooting VHS short films in his parent’s backyard as a kid, Mick found his passion early on in life. Since then, he has been meticulously honing his skills across every facet of the production industry. After 7 years climbing the rungs and travelling the world with Channel 9, followed by a 2-year working sabbatical at a major visual effects house in Norway, Mick took a leap of faith, flew from the nest and fell head first into the wide world of entrepreneurship. And just like that… Guerilla Creative was hatched.

Under Mick’s tireless direction, GC has flourished into the production powerhouse it is today. He is multi-talented, tech savvy, passionate and does what it takes to get the job done... And he makes a damn fine chicken pesto pasta too!

James Grech

Born from an egg on a mountain top, James “Jagwa” Grech is possibly one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. His champion demeanor is only surpassed by his rugged hairiness and his passion for all things in the creative realm. We call him our multitasking wildcard, because each 80’s action team needs someone that can fill many roles but who also looks good high fiving in slow motion. Editor. Sound recordist. Artist. Writer. Director. Camera op. Whenever he is needed, he appears.

Like glitter that’s been spilt onto the carpet, Jagwa’s love of the craft works its way deep into the post production shag pile. His edits are immaculately crafted. Whether you want a tear-inducing delicate story, a chuckle-filled laugh-fest or a film that punches your audience in the face with action and excitement, Jag will be there to deal out all the feels.

OSCAR AXEL THORBORG

This little Swedish upstart is who we fondly and condescendingly refer to as our Cinematic Provocateur. But don’t let his unmistakable James Van Der Beek-esqueness fool you... This guy has some solid smarts! He’s got a Bachelor of Film and Digital Media & an Honours in Arts Philosophy, so he can go all existential on your ass and film a killer dolly zoom of your puzzled reaction at the same time.

Oscar has the sweet, sweet skills and cinematic eye for detail to gently tear your project a new one. When he’s not developing prints in his make-shift laundry darkroom, or making short films about bathtub monsters and killer couches, he can be found wearing many hats at Guerilla HQ, quenching his creative juices with shooting, cutting, writing and anything else that falls in his path...

SIMONE ALCORN

Simon says but Simone does! Our ferocious producer has blazed trails all over this pale blue marble and sampled every flavour the entertainment business has to offer. After tossing the ol’ graduation hat high in the air above JMC Academy, Simone hung a different hat (she has many) at WIN tv. However Knowing TV to be an overstuffed medium, what with both an audio AND visual component, she switched to radio. Simone found her frequency at the Australian Radio Network where she tuned into client’s hearts, coordinated campaigns and integrated podcasts.

But wait, how could the, relatively speaking, tiny content of Australia contain this unbridled ambition? The answer is it couldn’t! Simone AllStar Alcorn spent her 20s globe-trotting around the Americans, of both the North and South variety, snowboarding around the Alps, of both the French and Swiss variety, and enjoying a party, of both the Oktoberfest and London Pride March variety. While in London she discovered a love for, and won a premiership in, AFL. Which funnily enough led her back to Australia, and to us! Now her newly shined football boots are ready for butt kicking and name taking at Guerilla Creative, where her love of travel, adventure, film and fun have found a new home.

HAMISH LESLIE-KELLY

Rounding out the Guerilla team is the ultimate all rounder. Hamish has worked in darn near every role there is in the filmmaking game and made quite the name for himself to boot. His scandalous affair with the camera began at the ripe old age of fifteen when he would make Edgar Wrightesque films with his sisters and friends.

All grown up, and with the luscious curls of an eighteenth century privateer, this scallywag put his kinematic know-how to the test earning himself a Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University and a Diploma of Audio-Visual Technology at RMIT. Not one to rest on his laurels, or diplomas, Hamish cracked on filming, editing, producing and managing his way through reality TV, extreme sports, lifestyle and nature documentaries. Diverging from the previously established pirate parlance, Hamish decided to tread the boards (and not the planks) as he moved into filming live theatre performances and the occasional music festival. Covering many roles and every base, you can be sure to find Hamish managing the crew, steering the ship, scouting ahead and occasionally mopping the poop deck here at Guerilla Creative.

BODHI

After a thoughtful search process, Guerilla Creative was delighted to announce the appointment of Bodhi as its new head of cuddles dept, effective 23rd April, 2018. Despite only having 8 weeks of experience being alive, Bodhi showed tremendous aptitude for the role. Reflecting on his appointment, Bodhi proclaimed a long drawn out growl and then proceeded to pee on the floorboards.

Since then, Bodhi has gone from strength to strength, climbing the corporate ladder, gnawing on the corporate ladder, knocking over the corporate ladder. If you want to be quietly whined at for no reason, or if need a toy completely annihilated and you need it done stat, Bodhi is your man-dog.

LUDO

Ludo’s Four Pillars of Success…
1: Hold every hand you can for as long as you can.
2: Don’t be afraid to get your paws dirty.
3: Retrieve every ball but NEVER give it back.
4: Suspiciously growl at every stranger who walks past.
