We love working with the good eggs at the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria, so when they asked us to contribute to their 170th anniversary exhibition, we knew we wanted to deliver something special. We designed an 8 meter long mural timeline for the project, which depicted the history of Vinnies. Incorporated throughout were icons you could scan with a mobile device to play hand drawn animations that expand on their story. The augmented reality component was entirely web-based, which meant an app download wasn’t required. This created a seamless user experience. We also complemented the timeline with four AR portraits that played videos of the subjects (who all have meaningful connections with Vinnies).
The exhibition was so well recieved that the AR timeline and portraits were re-displayed during the Vinnies CEO Sleepout events and toured around Australia.
When the event was complete, we repurposed the Augmented Reality content into standard videos so they could be posted on Vinnies’ social media and website, insuring they have a life beyond the exhibition. All ten timeline animations and four portrait stories were repurposed, each in 16:9, 1:1 and 9:16 ratios, making them suitable for any platform. Examples posted below…
