We were stoked when the good eggs at CFA brought us onboard to bring their training video series vision to life. They wanted the videos to be immersive, transporting the viewer right into the action, and felt that filming in Point Of View style would best achieve this. The easiest way to film POV is to simply wear an action cam on a headband, but we’ve never been ones to take the easy path. We wanted the picture quality to be as good as it could possibly be, so our tech guru Mick MacGuyvered up an elegant solution. He rigged up a snug fitting helmet with an assortment of camera gear which allowed him to film, monitor the footage, stream to an external monitor for client approval whilst also providing battery power and incorporating weights to balance the rig so it wouldn’t pull forwards. The 2.5kg rig was uncomfortable to wear but it captured gorgeous footage and freed up his hands so he could act in each scenario.
